All we want for Christmas this year is time to spend at Jivita Ayurveda, the newly opened organic wellbeing centre on Chamberlayne Road.
Offering a range of treatments, relaxation therapies, diet and lifestyle advice, as well as stocking some of the most luxurious organic beauty products around, Jivita Ayurveda is one of the few places in London that offer the entire Ayurvedic experience under one roof.
Owner Anu Paavola opened the centre this autumn with this desire. ‘There are only a couple of Ayurvedic spas in London,’ Anu says, ‘and there are very few places that offer the whole Ayurvedic experience.’
Not only is Jivita a fantastic local sanctuary for relaxation and holistic beauty therapies, Anu’s centre also stocks a selection of organic foods for the Ayurvedic kitchen, including teas, oils, spices, high quality ghee and mung dahl.
During a personal health consultation, one of Anu’s specially trained staff ask a series of diet and lifestyle questions to gauge your dosha (Ayurvedic energies) and will develop a personal lifestyle plan to help you restore balance by favouring or avoiding certain types of food.
Plan a delicious Ayurvedic Christmas feast, using the bespoke nutritional advice, then stock up on all your ingredients from among Jivita’s fresh, non-processed and locally produced food.
Also good for the mind, body and soul would be a Jivita full body massage or a signature Shirodara treatment (60 min, £80), during which warm, soothing oils are poured continuously over the forehead. This calming effect nourishes the brain and relieves anxiety, headaches and insomnia.
Luxurious organic beauty brand, Ila, is also available ay Jivita – the reportedly favoured by Kate Moss and Lily Allen that is actually incredibly hard to find usually (although local therapist Tabitha Robertson also stocks it).
Pop in, meet the team, get some advice and sample some truly heavenly products.
Jivita Ayurveda is at 89 Chamberlayne Road, Kensal Rise, NW10 3ND (020 8964 4993)
